Responsibilities
Set technical standards and make architectural decisions across all engineering verticals to ensure scalable, integrated system design.
Key Activities
Technical Standards & Governance (coding guidelines, engineering principles, technical debt strategy)
Cross-Vertical Authority (technical veto power, conflict resolution, feasibility assessment)
Platform Architecture (privacy engineering, cross-domain integration, performance oversight)
Tasks
Stay up to date on the latest releases on the stack Honestum Labs uses. Communicate the impacts of those releases to technical leadership and teams to inform how to manage the technical infrastructure.
Define technical guidelines and coding standards for Swift, Python, and Apple ecosystem integration (CoreML, CloudKit, SwiftUI) for all developers to follow.
Enforce engineering guiding principles (ex Occam's razor).
Understand business requirements, development process, and release timeline consuming initiatives from Business Planning. Ensure all decisions support these items.
Provide technical critique on solution options created during architecture reviews to increase success chances of implementation.
Own technical veto if a solution option if it's not feasible.
Act as an escalation point to resolve technical conflicts between verticals and ensure consistent technical vision across the platform. (cloud, conversion, device)
Establish privacy engineering standards including zero-data-leakage architecture and secure cloud-to-device knowledge graph synchronization protocols.
Define cross-domain data flow patterns enabling companions to share context while maintaining user privacy and system performance.
Create technical frameworks for Pioneer integration including knowledge distillation processes and companion behavior testing standards.
Own performance such as time to first token (TTFT), memory usage limits, and battery impact thresholds. Resolve complex technical issues that are blocking the team.
Define and track technical debt strategy across all verticals.
Partner with IT & Security to define and develop disaster recovery and reliability standards. Including privacy incidents
Partner with Product & Design and Finance to build developer productivity metrics and tooling standards
Skills Set (Must Have)
10+ years software architecture with 5+ years in platform/principal architect roles at technology companies
Deep expertise in Apple system architecture (swift, CoreML, CloudKit, SwiftUI, etc) and on-device AI/ML systems (python) with production deployment experience
Knowledge of knowledge graphs, semantic data modeling, and AI model deployment optimization techniques
Demonstrated ability to define and enforce technical standards across multiple teams
Strong technical communication skills for technical audiences
Skills Set (Nice to Have)
Experience with React/TypeScript for web platforms and knowledge of distributed systems architecture
Previous startup experience in consumer AI products with understanding of compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA)
